Papillon Violet Psychotherapy
Welcome
Congratulations on your journey towards healing and a full life.
I invite you to learn a bit more about my practice and the path I have taken to join you.
My name is Henaris Curiel-Shaw. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and have lived in three different continents, but have made Texas my home for the past 20 years.
I obtained a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and have over 13 years experience providing therapeutic services to children and families.
I was employed at Any Baby Can for more than seven years and later was a therapist for Austin Travis County Integral Care. Through my work with these two agencies, I had the opportunity to treat children and adults. Many of my clients experienced trauma or abuse. I have worked extensively with families suffering with grief and loss, as well as parents of children with disabilities. I have significant training in Infant Mental Health and contracted with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to foster family reunification.
Being from Caracas, Venezuela I have a keen interest in working with immigrant Spanish-speaking families. I am completely comfortable providing therapeutic services in English or Spanish.
Below are the list of challenges that I have experience navigating with my clients:
· Parent/Infant Relationship
. Adoption
· Bonding and Attachment
· Childhood Behavioral Difficulties
· Grief and Loss
· Terminal Illness
· Complex Trauma and Childhood Abuse
· Depression and other Mood Disorders
· Self-Esteem
· Anxiety
· Sexual Orientation
· Intimate Partner Relationships
I strive to provide a safe environment for clients to become in touch with their agency, while experiencing difficult life situations. I use a combination of approaches to best meet the needs of clients. These approaches include Psychodynamic therapy, Theraplay, TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) , and NARM ( Neuro-Affective Relational Model) which is a model that is designed to treat the effects of Complex Trauma .
